Beto is Prepared for War with US Citizens
Presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke is probably one of the most outspoken in the race for the White House when it comes to gun control. He has continuously made it clear that if elected, he would take all “assault weapons” such from Americans.
So Thursday’s performance on the subject during the Democratic debates came as no surprise. However, it does give us serious cause for concern.
Unlike most candidates, who boast of implementing stricter gun laws, Beto has put a huge and severe emphasis on taking away our Second Amendment rights completely. And it won’t go over well with many Americans.
During Thursday’s debate, ABC anchor David Muir asked the former Texas Representative, “Are you proposing taking away their guns and how would that work?”
The question refers to Beto’s proposed “buyback” plan that would make it mandatory for all AR-15s and AK-47s to be returned to the government.
Beto responded, “I am, if it’s a weapon that was designed to kill people on a battlefield.”
And he continued, “If the high-impact, high velocity round when it hits your body shreds everything inside of your body because it was designed to do that so that you would bleed to death on a battlefield and not be able to get up and kill one of our soldiers.”
“When we see that being used against children,” he said. And added, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, AK-47, we’re not going to allow it to be used against fellow Americans anymore.”
Well, he was definitely apparent on the part about taking them.
As for “the how” it’s going to work, he was a little more mute. However, earlier this month he expounded on that a little.
When asked about taking guns through a mandatory “buyback,” he said, “I want to be really clear that that’s exactly what we are going to do.”
According to the Washington Examiner, he continued, “Americans who own AR-15s, AK-47s, will have to sell them to the government. We’re not going to allow them to stay on our streets, to show up in our communities, to be used against us in our synagogues, our churches, our mosques, our Wal-marts, our public places.”
He says America has a real problem.
“All countries have video games. All countries struggle with mental health. All countries deal with hatred. But only America has more guns than human beings – 390 million firearms in a country of 329 million people – which kill nearly 40,000 people every year.”
And he added, “That’s why, as president, I would institute a mandatory buyback of every assault weapon in America.”
There is just one small problem, well several actually.
People are still going to kill those they hate. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Just because you take a weapon doesn’t change what a person feels or their intentions. If they are intent on killing someone or even several people, they are going to do it with or without an assault weapon in hand.
Just look at the number of stabbings that occur on a yearly basis. Or how many people are poisoned, drowned, or literally beat to death. People use what they have access to. So while taking assault weapons will not allow them to be used for evil intent, it doesn’t stop the act of murder from happening.
Or study young boys playing with toys. They may not actually have toy guns, knives, or any other sort of weapon. But they will make or imagine just about anything possible to be used as such. A stick from the yard, a paint stirring stick, the broom, a hairdryer. You name it, a child has imagined it as a weapon to used for play. It’s only natural and proves just how creative and resourceful humans can be, whether they are a child merely playing with their friends or an adult seeking revenge.
O’Rourke also seems to have forgotten that most of America will not simply hand their guns over, even if they are getting paid for it. Firearms, whether a simple handgun or an assault weapon, are symbols of our freedom, freedom given to us by the Constitution. And it isn’t taken lightly by true patriots. To hand over any type of firearm is to surrender everything we stand for and what we were founded on.
America will not go easily, and Beto had better be prepared.
