President Joe Biden seems to take great joy in making decisions that the American people not only have a tough time swallowing but that impact our bottom lines as well. While most presidents would be making decisions that benefit the most people with a few items solely going the way of their special interest groups, Biden has had them at the forefront since day one. If there is nothing else you can say about this dementia-riddled man, he is consistent there.
This time, he decided to give Chevron the green light to break previously set sanctions from Biden as an attempt to oust socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro. The sky-high inflation he caused has sent the country into a total panic, and tailspin, with no end in sight. At a peak of nearly 10 million percent since 2018, many people have been unable to afford the basics. The idea here is that this could provide them with that money.
Per the Treasury Department. “On November 26th, the Unitary Platform and the Maduro regime announced the resumption of talks in Mexico City; a humanitarian agreement focused on education, health, food security, flood response, and electricity programs that will benefit the Venezuelan people; and agreement on the continuation of talks focused on the 2024 elections. Following this announcement and consistent with U.S. government policy, the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued Venezuela General License (GL) 41, authorizing Chevron Corporation to resume limited natural resource extraction operations in Venezuela.”
Other parts of the statement clarified that this “targeted sanctions relief” only came about as a result of the Venezuelan government’s actions to help their people and their allowance for democracy to return properly. According to the administration, they will revisit these sanctions-lifting actions in sex months. Then they will either amend or possibly even outright revoke the sanctions.
Former White House Economic Adviser Stephen Moore spoke out on Fox News on Nov 27th and expressed his utter shock at how much this administration was giving away.
“I literally almost fell out of my chair reading this headline that says we’re going to allow, you know, Chevron to do drilling in Venezuela. This is the same administration that won’t allow us to do drilling here in the United States, not in Texas, not in Oklahoma, not in Alaska, not in West Virginia. But we can pump oil from Venezuela. It makes absolutely no sense. It’s put America last energy policy.”
He continued “And by the way, when Trump left office and I helped Trump on energy policy, our whole policy was to make America totally energy independent so we wouldn’t have to rely on countries like Venezuela and Iran and Russia. And so somebody explain this one to me because it makes no sense.”
Much like Moore alluded to, there is no good explanation for this other than Biden is getting something for doing this. We have more than enough spots to dig for oil, we have more than enough equipment, and we have more than enough oil workers. Drilling and refining oil here would be an intelligent decision. It creates American jobs, helps to fill the oil gaps in the American economy, and can help us lessen our dependence on foreign oil.
There is no way this concept should be lost on the left. While they are advocating for electric vehicles, the “oil fields” their cars are made from are destroying the landscapes and natural resources of the lithium mines in Europe and Asia. The environmental impact to make one of their dream cars is 100x more than using a gas-powered vehicle. Needless to say, it’s not worth it if green is the goal.
Time to face it, America: Biden is selling us out for some cheap thrills, and we won’t even get the “lousy t-shirt” for it.
