Grand Gestures? The VP Doesn’t Do Those

Grand gestures are seen in almost every romance movie ever released. It’s what gets the heroine to fall in love with the hero.

Grand gestures are a way to say “I’m sorry” or “I love you” or “I’ve got big plans for us. The gesture is a way to achieve results.

We’ve got big problems as a country when the Vice President says that she’s not going to be doing any grand gestures.

Kamala Harris participated in a press conference in Guatemala where she urged migrants not to make the trek to the United States. She didn’t give any kind of reason why. Instead, she simply urged them not to.

When asked if she would be visiting the U.S.-Mexico border to see everything for herself, she explained that she’d rather be on the ground, speaking to the leaders of the Central American notions. She believes that those will provide “tangible” and “real results.”

She goes on to say that “I will continue to be focused on that kind of work as opposed to grand gestures.”

When Kamala Harris was running for president, there were many instances where it was clear that she didn’t understand what the American people wanted. And even after losing the primaries, she still doesn’t understand.

Americans want a grand gesture. They want to see Harris make a grand gesture that shows that she’s interested in helping the American people.

Harris is a politician. It’s clear that she’s not interested in just being the VP. She has dreams of becoming the president.

Does she think that she’ll ever get Americans to vote for her if she doesn’t make some kind of grand gesture? We need to see that she really does care. Make us fall in love with you, Kamala. Give us that rom-com slow-motion run where you run to us with open arms and say that you’re sorry and that you love us.

Nope. She’s opposed to grand gestures. And that is why we’re failing to put an end to the migration nightmare at the southern border.

Since Harris is refusing to visit the border, it’s being viewed that she’s not committed to solving the problem. She’s also operating under false information.

During her speech, she said that she “believes” that migrants who attempt to enter the U.S. through non-legal channels are being turned away at the border. Clearly, that’s not what’s happening. And if she bothered with a border visit, she’d see the thousands of migrants being allowed in each and every week. She’d see the overcrowded facilities, and she’d know what the problem is and why it needs to be solved – and fast.

“I want to emphasize that the goal of our work is to help Guatemalans find hope at home,’ Harris said after her bilateral meeting with Giammattei.”

She’s wrong. That’s not her goal. Her goal is to stop the migration. While it would be great for Guatemalans to find hope at home, they’re not going to find as much hope as what is waiting for them in the U.S.

Her liberal friends have made it clear that if migrants enter a sanctuary city, they can be free from deportation. They can seek employment and a pathway to citizenship. And some of Harris’ particularly enthusiastic liberal friends may even offer the migrants a stimulus check to help ease their way into American life more comfortably.

As for what Republicans had to say about her calling a trip to the border a “grand gesture,” well…

Byron Donalds, a Republican Florida Representative took the lead by saying that it is her responsibility as not only the VP but also the “border czar” as she was named by Biden. Kevin McCarthy, Republican House leader also points out that it’s been 75 days since she was appointed and has yet to visit the southern border and see the extent of the crisis.

A grand gesture may be the only way for Americans to regain hope. We need to see that Harris cares. And right now, not only does she not care, but she also doesn’t even truly understand the extent of the problem.
