Is Harris’ Energy Plan Russia’s Dangerous Secret Ingredient?
Many on the left have criticized President Donald Trump for being amicable with Russian President Vladimir Putin. As a result, many have also insinuated that the US is at Russia’s beck and call. However, when we look at the facts, it seems not Trump but another presidential candidate it the one who plans to do favors for the Kremlin.
Senator and White House hopeful Kamala Harris just announced this week that as part of her environmental plan, she would seek to put an end to offshore oil drilling, as well as fracking on both private and public lands. Fracking is a process used to extract both oil and natural gas from shale.
As with most liberals seeking the Oval Office, they seem to want to undo everything President Trump has worked so hard to achieve. This is no exception and if implemented, would directly reverse his efforts to make America an independent energy source with a booming economy.
Under Trump’s watch, the nation has become the top oil producer in the world, bypassing Russia, in 2018. It has also become a net exporter of crude oil for the first time in 75 years. He has done this by opening more offshore areas and federal lands to oil explorations, cutting regulations, and allowing for projects like the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, about 59% of the nation’s crude oil production in 2018 came from the 6.5 million barrels of oil extracted from shale by fracking.
These increased amounts of oil available on the market have caused prices to drop significantly, making gas and oil much cheaper for the average American and costing Putin a lot of money. In addition, the increased projects and oil sites have opened up thousands of US jobs, contributing to both the historically low unemployment rate and better local economies in those areas.
However, if Harris is appointed Commander in Chief in 2020, all of that will change. The US’s sky-high growth will topple, while Russia’s will be allowed to take complete control.
The Russian economy depends highly on being able to see oil on the world market. And as the world’s top producer of such for quite some time, they have gotten used to enormous amounts of revenue it has brought in.
However, the more crude oil available, the lower its price becomes. As Trump has increased American oil production and the costs of it began to drop, Russia has experienced the pain of a much smaller oil income.
President Trump has made a point to note this fact more than once, negating the left’s accusation of being Putin’s puppet.
As he tweeted in January, “’ Gas prices drop across the United States because President Trump has deregulated Energy and we are now producing a great deal more oil than ever before.’ @foxandfriends But this is bad news for Russia, why would President Trump do such a thing? Though he worked for Kremlin?”
And others have noticed too.
Tom Rogan of the Washington Examiner says Harris would ruin all that.
“Her ban would be a gift to the Russian leader. It would strengthen his rule and his central foreign policy objective: degrading U.S. influence, power, and international order.”
He continued, saying, “Thus even aside from the great domestic benefits that fracking has brought in jobs and a domestic energy price cap, Harris’ ban is a foreign policy disgrace deserving common disdain.”
But as Rogan points out, Harris is not the only one to agree with a fracking ban. Senator Bernie Sanders also says he would establish similar laws.
So Rogan asks, “Where does this leave us?” And he shouldn’t be the only one asking. What happens to American when Russia’s needs are served before our own? Yes, it’s for the sake of the environment. We’ve heard. But is it really? After all, most liberal candidates have already just about admitted than any environmental plan actually is just a way to change up the economy and give them more power.
Rogan says, “With a party full of people who actually support Vladimir Putin and his agenda, all the while thinking themselves very clever for calling the Senate Majority Leader ‘Moscow Mitch.’ And Harris is arguably the worst among them.”
Yep, I’d say Harris is just playing directly into Putin’s hand with this one.
