Really? New York Times Wants “Impartial and Nonpartisan DNC” to Investigate Biden’s Sexual Abuse
The New York Times has been taking a number of interesting positions lately and this one certainly takes the cake. They decided that they were not interested in taking an open-source look at the allegations that are being made by Tara Reade. Multiple media outlets have offered their support to Reade but the New York Times has demurred.
This newspaper has no problem investigating any allegation that is made against a Republican but now that someone on the left side of the aisle is being accused? They are singing a much different tune. The Times is not going to be taking a closer look at what has taken place. They would rather defer to the Democratic National Committee.
A headline like this one seems like something that the Onion would come up with but trust on this one. It is very real and we cannot stop laughing. We cannot wait for the Democrats to come tell us that they are done investigating….the Democrats. Of course, the Democrats are not going to find any issues when they are investigating themselves.
In any situation like this one, it is hard to tell who is being honest and who is not. The stakes are simply too high for anyone to ignore. It is funny to see the same leftists who were willing to paint President Trump with the abuser brush turn the other cheek when it comes to credible accusations that are being made against Joe Biden.
Anyone who is seeking the nation’s highest office needs to be held to the highest possible standards. Unfortunately, various leftist media organizations are not looking to hold their candidates to these standards. Instead, they behave in a completely hypocritical manner and expect no one to be the wiser.
Earth to the Democrats: none of you are as smart as you seem to think that you are. Everyone can see through your games. If someone on the right is accused of sexual assault, you want to break out the #MeToo hashtags and start with the “believe all women!” rhetoric.
When someone on the left is accused? All of a sudden, they want impartial investigations and there’s all this talk of ‘nuance’. The pitchforks and torches get put away. The same fire and brimstone that is reversed for people like Brett Kavanaugh is gone. It is replaced by a naivete that would be mind boggling if we were not so used to it by now.
As is so often the case in such situations, it is all but impossible to be certain of the truth. But the stakes are too high to let the matter fester — or leave it to be investigated by and adjudicated in the media. Mr. Biden is seeking the nation’s highest office.
In 2018, this board advocated strongly for a vigorous inquiry into accusations of sexual misconduct raised against Brett Kavanaugh when he was nominated to a seat on the Supreme Court. Mr. Biden’s pursuit of the presidency requires no less. His campaign, and his party, have a duty to assure the public that the accusations are being taken seriously. The Democratic National Committee should move to investigate the matter swiftly and thoroughly, with the full cooperation of the Biden campaign.
The same board that advocates for vigorous queries into the background of anyone on the right who is accused of sexual assault should be making the same inquiries for others. If they are not willing to do so, this corrupts the democratic process in ways that are going to be hard to recover from going forward. The Democrats have a certain obligation to their constituents that they are actively refusing to uphold.
The New York Times editorial board would also never behave like this if they ever got Donald Trump in their cross hairs. They would not hesitate to pull the trigger. It would not matter if the accusations that were being made against Trump were at all reputable. The conflict of interest is also very hard to ignore when you take the time to consider the Times’ proposal.
Mr. Biden’s word is insufficient to dispel the cloud. Any inventory should be strictly limited to information about Ms. Reade and conducted by an unbiased, apolitical panel, put together by the D.N.C. and chosen to foster as much trust in its findings as possible.
How can the Democrats be expected to investigate themselves without any kind of chicanery taking place? There’s no way that this investigation would be fair or impartial, that is for sure. It is the Times’ way of passing the buck and avoiding all responsibility.
When the Times wrote their Brett Kavanaugh pieces, they did not ask for the Republicans to do the investigating. They were asking for the FBI to get involved. It’s a far cry from how they are currently handling the Joe Biden controversy. Even the saner leftists are shaking their heads and wondering why the tables have turned so quickly.
In response to the NYT editorial board’s suggestion that the DNC assemble an “unbiased, apolitical panel” to inventory Biden’s Senate papers, DNC communications director @XochitlHinojosa calls this an “absurd suggestion on its face” and argues Biden has already been fully vetted. pic.twitter.com/QgrPJT6svh

Hinojosa’s statement, a full defense of Biden by the DNC, says he’s already “asked for transparency” by requesting any relevant Senate records and cleared a bar “like no other” with Obama’s 2008 vetting process.

The Times also seems to believe that the Democrats will be able to create a panel that is “apolitical” to investigate Biden’s alleged wrongdoing. That’s why this piece is so funny. They are talking to everyone as if they have figured some cheat code to manipulate. In reality, they are simply being massive hypocrites.
The Democrats have zero interest when it comes to a Biden investigation and that’s what the Times is banking on. Everyone on the left is just crossing their fingers and waiting for this salacious story to go away. It’s a very sad juxtaposition that we are all too familiar with these days…
