Clay Travis just put $10 million on the table and dared the WNBA to take it. The OutKick founder announced Sunday that he's offering a $10 million prize for a head-to-head basketball game between the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces and a boys' high school state title team of his choosing.
They won't take the bet. Everybody knows why.
"Important announcement: I am upping my offer, $10 million dollars for a head-to-head basketball game between the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces and a boy's high school state title team of my choice," Travis posted. "If the Aces beat my team, I will give them $10 million."
He added: "This will be the most money ever paid to win a single basketball game. A modern day battle of the sexes. $10 million to the winning team." Travis also pledged that pay-per-view profits from the event would be donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides mortgage-free homes to families of fallen service members and first responders.
So the offer is public, the money is real, and the charity angle removes any excuse to decline. A professional women's basketball franchise, backed by corporate sponsors and billion-dollar media deals, is being challenged by a man willing to bet eight figures that teenage boys would beat them. The silence from the WNBA tells you everything the game itself would have confirmed.
But Travis wasn't done. "I will buy a WNBA expansion franchise as the primary owner of that franchise," Travis said on his radio show. "I will bring them to my hometown...Nashville, Tennessee. I will pledge that 100% of my team will be trans."
The franchise name: the Nashville Balls.
The satirical franchise is designed to expose a contradiction the left refuses to address — if trans women are women, then there's no reason they shouldn't dominate a women's basketball league. And if an all-trans roster would dominate, then maybe the categories exist for a reason.
The left's response options are limited. Criticize the stunt and you're admitting biological males have a competitive advantage. Ignore it and Travis keeps escalating with a bigger megaphone. Engage with it seriously and you're debating a team called the Nashville Balls on national radio.
This is the same sports media culture that spent years telling us Caitlin Clark proved women's basketball could compete for mainstream attention and advertising dollars. Travis isn't arguing with the premise. He's stress-testing it with a cashier's check and a franchise application.
