Senate Republicans Win! Take the First Step to Fully Fund ICE — And Democrats Stayed Up All Night Crying About It

Senate Republicans just passed the biggest immigration enforcement budget in the history of the United States. Seventy billion dollars for ICE and Border Patrol — and they did it through a marathon overnight vote session while Democrats wailed and gnashed their teeth like a bunch of toddlers who just got told they can’t have dessert.

Seventy. Billion. Dollars. That’s billion with a B, folks. When was the last time the GOP actually put real money where its mouth is on border security? We’ve been hearing “secure the border” speeches at campaign rallies for thirty years. This time they actually wrote the check.

The vote wrapped up on April 22nd after Senate Republicans bowled right over the Democratic opposition like a freight train through a cardboard wall. Democrats tried every procedural trick in the book to slow it down, delay it, water it down — and every single attempt got steamrolled.

Now, if you’ve been watching the usual suspects on cable news, you already know the talking points. “Cruelty!” “Inhumane!” “This is not who we are!” (That last one is our personal favorite. Apparently “who we are” is a country that spends billions housing, feeding, and providing free healthcare to people who walked in through the back door while American retirees are clipping coupons for prescription medication.)

Chuck Schumer looked like he’d been sucking on a lemon all night. The man who spent years telling us the border was “secure” — remember that? — suddenly had all sorts of concerns about the budget being “excessive.” Excessive! We spent $200 billion on Ukraine and nobody on the Left batted an eye. But $70 billion to protect our own border? That’s where they draw the line.

These people are unbelievable.

Here’s what that $70 billion actually buys. More ICE agents. More Border Patrol officers. More detention beds. More deportation flights. More wall construction. More technology at the ports of entry. Basically everything that Democrats spent four years dismantling under Biden, Republicans are now rebuilding — except bigger and better.

And the timing couldn’t be more beautiful. We’re still dealing with the fallout from Biden’s open-border catastrophe. Cities across the country are drowning in illegal immigration costs. New York City alone has blown through billions. Chicago’s mayor is begging for federal help. Denver is cutting city services. And what was the Democratic solution? Send them more money to manage the chaos they created.

Republicans just said: “Nah, how about we stop the chaos instead?”

The best part? This wasn’t even close. The budget passed with enough margin that Democrats couldn’t filibuster it, couldn’t stall it, couldn’t do a single thing about it except go on MSNBC afterward and cry. Which they did. Enthusiastically.

One Democrat senator — we won’t even dignify her with a name — actually compared ICE agents to “jackbooted thugs.” Yeah. The men and women who risk their lives every day to stop fentanyl from killing your grandkids are “thugs.” Meanwhile, she voted to send pallets of cash to the Taliban. Priorities!

President Trump has been pushing for exactly this kind of enforcement funding since day one of his second term. And now he’s got it. The White House released a statement calling it “a historic victory for the American people” — and for once, that’s not political spin. It’s just accurate.

For years, border security was all talk. Campaign ads with candidates standing in front of border fencing. Tough speeches at CPAC. Strongly worded letters to DHS. And then nothing happened. The budget stayed flat. ICE got defunded by activist city councils. Border Patrol agents got reassigned to process asylum claims instead of, you know, patrolling the border.

That era is over.

Seventy billion dollars doesn’t lie. You can argue about rhetoric all day long. You can’t argue with a line item in the federal budget. The money is there. The mandate is there. And the Democrats who spent years screaming “abolish ICE” just watched the Senate triple its funding.

(Somewhere, AOC is updating her Instagram story with a crying selfie. We guarantee it.)

This is what winning actually looks like. Not tweets. Not press conferences. Cold, hard cash allocated to the agencies that enforce our laws, protect our borders, and keep Americans safe. The Senate stayed up all night to get it done, and we should be grateful they did.

Now let’s see them spend every penny of it.
