Thirteen Months, Zero Releases: Trump Just Made 'Impossible' Border Security Look Easy

The Trump administration just hit a milestone that every "expert" on CNN told you was physically impossible — 13 consecutive months of zero illegal alien releases at the U.S.-Mexico border. Not reduced releases. Not fewer releases. Zero. As in the number Democrats thought only applied to their policy ideas.

Remember when we were told the border was simply too big to secure? That catch and release was just "how it works"? Funny how all those structural impossibilities vanished the moment we got a president who actually wanted to enforce the law.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced the historic streak on Wednesday, declaring, "Thirteen straight months of ZERO releases at the border. Under President Donald Trump's leadership, we are delivering the most secure border in American history." He added plainly: "The days of catch and release are over."

He wasn't kidding about the numbers, either.

According to the data, U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded just 9,998 total apprehensions in May — an average of 323 per day. That represents a 94% decrease compared to the monthly average during the Biden administration, and a 96% decrease compared to peak months under Biden.

During Biden's worst stretches, an estimated 85% or more of apprehended illegal aliens were simply released into the country. In 2023, a single border sector saw 17,000 illegal aliens arrested in just five days. Five days. That's not a border policy — that's an open door with a welcome mat.

And it's not just bodies being stopped. Narcotics seizures surged 32% in May compared to May 2024. Fentanyl seizures jumped 72% from April to May 2026 alone. Marijuana seizures climbed 61% over the fiscal year 2024 average, and overall illicit narcotics seized are up 56% compared to the same period in FY2024.

Secretary Mullin summed it up: "We are enforcing the nation's laws and quickly sending illegal aliens back to their home countries, ensuring the safety and sovereignty of our nation."

Randy Clark, a 32-year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol and former Division Chief for Law Enforcement Operations, has been tracking these numbers for Breitbart. The data doesn't lie. When you actually enforce the law, people stop breaking it. Revolutionary concept.

Thirteen months. You won't see that number on a CNN chyron. You won't hear it from the legacy media anchors who spent four years telling you the border was "secure" while millions poured in. But every American who voted for this — who was told they were xenophobic, heartless, and unreasonable for wanting their own country's laws enforced — should take a nice, long victory lap.

Turns out border security was never impossible. We just needed someone willing to do it.
